IQOS built-in Bluetooth allows you to connect your smartphone to the IQOS Connect app that monitors the device, allowing you to set up the holder vibration, reset the device, or locate it when it's within your reach.
IQOS Connect app availability
IQOS Connect has been struggling with approval issues since the beginning of its development due to strict trading conditions for tobacco products. Development for Apple has been postponed indefinitely, with Android after a long wait at the end of the year finally finished, from December 2018 you can download it from Google Play.
How to install IQOS Connect
- Download IQOS Connect to your phone.
- You can log in using IQOS account but it isn't necessary.
- Set up the language and confirm terms and conditions.
- For the app to work well you have to allow localization that is a part of Bluetooth controlling, it can't work without it. It doesn't watch the location of the user.
- Activate Bluetooth on your phone and pick the Add device option.
- You'll be asked to turn on the Bluetooth on your IQOS. Follow their instructions.
IQOS Connect settings
After pairing, the device is displayed on the main screen, clicking it will show its settings. If the device image is grayed out, it means it's not connected, it can be activated by pulling out the holder and returning it back in the charger again. However, it is advisable to set the behavior of the application in the main menu at the top left.
In the menu, you will find a store locator, help and the option to order HEETS. In the settings, you can enable or disable IQOS notifications on your phone, those can be:
- Low battery warning in mobile
- Reporting IQOS bugs
- Charging notification
- Charging issues notification
The remaining two options send statistical data to the manufacturer, you can safely turn it off.
IQOS device settings
After clicking the device, you can display the Error notification, display IQOS error messages, and if a message appears, the phone will make a sound. You can remove it by dragging it to the side.
The most interesting is the vibration setting, for the IQOS 2.4 the offer is quite poor but the IQOS 3 allows a detailed holder setup).
With the IQOS 3 holder, you can turn on four warnings signaling when turned on, when warming up, 30 seconds before the end, and at the end.
Finding a device allows you to locate and run IQOS vibrations if it is within the range of Bluetooth, it is useful when you can't remember where you've put your IQOS. It does not work with the GPS localization so it is of no use when your device is stolen!
You can also rename the device, find serial numbers, or restart your IQOS.
IQOS friendly restaurants
IQOS Connect also includes a well-arranged map of stores, restaurants, and cafes where IQOS can be used. This is the most up-to-date list available.
- Open the menu at the top left of the app.
- Choose a store.
- Press the filter icon to the right of the search.
- Select the locations you are interested in.
- You can try starting by adding an address.
IQOS Connect is a nice bonus, but IQOS can be used without it. It is constantly evolving and it comes with something new in every new version. Some users would like to have richer features, but there is not much to invent when it comes to IQOS. The smoked-HEETS counter is in demand, but it would not be too precise and probably not too much in the interest of the manufacturer to allow such control, but perhaps we will see.
